The Regimental Association has its origins after World War 1. The men of the 50th Battalion (Canadian Expeditionary Force-CEF) formed an association for the purposes of perpetuating the many accomplishments of the 50th Bn during the Great War, and to provide a means of continuing social relationships built during that period. Following the Second World War, the men of the 14th Armoured Regiment (The Calgary Regiment-Tank) proposed to join with the 50th Bn Association, and in 1950, the new name that was registered under the Alberta Societies Act was the 50/14 Association. In 1957, the name of the Association became the 50/14 Veterans Association. When it became clear that the Second World War veterans were beginning to dwindle in numbers, and in order to continue to exist, the post war members of The King’s Own Calgary Regiment needed to be included in the membership. In 2011, the name was again officially changed to its current title.
The King’s Own Calgary Regiment (50CEF/14CTR) Association is comprised of serving members of the current Regiment, past serving members of The KOCR including those from other units who were formally “attached” to the Regiment, former members of affiliated Cadet Corps, and as well, a number of son’s, daughter’s, grandson’s and granddaughter’s of 14 CTR and 50th Bn soldiers. “Friends of the KOCR” can also be included as members of the Association.
The Association provides support to the serving soldiers of the Regiment and Cadets, and where possible, the families of our Veterans. We provide educational bursaries, support morale and welfare initiatives, and preserve Regimental history during events, and significant anniversaries.
The Association is based out of Calgary Alberta with its mailing address being:
