Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Colonel John Fisher

LCol John Fisher is a Professional Engineer and Business Executive  who has spent the last 25 years working internationally and domestically in the Defence, Security and Space Industries in both the private and public sectors. He has run several companies in Canada and holds a Bachelor of Science In Mechanical Engineering from the University of Calgary. He has graduate certificates in engineering and complex program management.

LCol Fisher joined The British Columbia Regiment in 1992, was commissioned in 1993 and joined the King’s Own Calgary Regiment (RCAC) in 1995 where he graduated from the Armoured Reserve Entry Scheme Officer (RESO). He held several command positions in the Regiment before joining the New Zealand Defence Force in 2013 as the Director of the Capability Program Management Office.  He rejoined the Canadian Forces in 2017 initially as a Squadron Commander in the Windsor Regiment then as the Deputy Commanding Officer of the Brockville Rifles in 33 Brigade.  LCol Fisher rejoined the Kings Own as Regimental Second in Command in 2022.

LCol Fisher is a graduate of the Armoured Reconnaissance Squadron Commanders Course, Army Operations Course, the Basic Parachutists Course, and the NZDF Lead Integrated Capability Course. Additionally, LCol Fisher has supported several domestic operations in Alberta and Ontario and deployed to Afghanistan from 2011-2012.
