On July 17, 1959, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II presented the King’s Own with their guidon, which is still in use by the Regiment today. This guidon included battle honours from WWI & WWII to commemorate the service given by the unit in those conflicts.
This historic event took place at Beacon Hill Park, in Victoria, BC. The parade was shared with 1 PPCLI, who formed the body of troops on parade, while the King’s Own was represented by a guidon party as well as the Commanding Officer of the Regiment.
