REGIMENTAL COMMAND TEAM
The Commanding Officer is solely responsible for the training, administration, and conduct of the Regiment both in the field and in garrison.

The Regimental Sergeant Major is the senior serving soldier of the Regiment and is charged with the discipline of the non-commissioned officers and with the supervision of their duties.
Commanding Officer
Lieutenant Colonel John Fisher, CD
LCol Fisher was appointed the Commanding Officer of the King’s Own Calgary Regiment in April 2023. He was commissioned in 1993 and has held all command positions in the Regiment. In 33 Bde he served as the Deputy Commander of Task Force Wolf and the Deputy Commanding Officer of the Brockville Rifles/Princess of Wales' Own Rifles Tactical Group. LCol Fisher is a graduate of the Armoured RESO program, Armoured Reconnaissance Squadron Commanders Course, Army Operations Course, the Basic Parachutists Course, as well as the NZDF Lead Integrated Capability Course. LCol Fisher has supported several domestic operations in Alberta and Ontario and deployed to Afghanistan in 2011.
LCol Fisher is a Professional Engineer and Business Executive who has spent over 25 years working internationally and domestically in Defence, Security and Space Industries. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Calgary and has graduate certificates in engineering and complex program management.

Pablo Fernandez, CD
MWO Pablo Fernandez has been a member of the King’s Own since he joined the Canadian Armed Forces in 1990. He has deployed on multiple tours and has held appointments at every level of command within the Regiment. He most recently served as the regiment’s Technical Quartermaster Sergeant, and previously held appointments as Squadron Sergeant Major of A Squadron, B Squadron, and Headquarters Squadron. He has also received several commendations for his work within the CAF.

Outside of the CAF, MWO Fernandez is a Communications Manager within the academic industry and holds a Master of Arts in Professional Communication from Royal Roads University.

RSM Fernandez is the first Latino RSM in the King’s Own.
HONOURARY COLONEL
It is a tradition within the Canadian Army to ask a prominent member of the civilian or military community to accept the appointment as a mark of their recognition and respect for him. The Colonel does not involve himself or herself in the military operation of the regiment, but is concerned with its ceremonial, social, and family aspects and provides a link to the community.

Linda Southern-Heathcott
Ms. Southern-Heathcott is President & Chief Executive Officer of Spruce Meadows Ltd., an internationally recognized equestrian facility in Calgary, Alberta. As a former professional equestrian rider, Ms. Southern-Heathcott was a member of the Canadian Equestrian Team for nine years and competed in the 1996 Olympic Summer Games in Atlanta, Georgia. Ms. Southern-Heathcott was appointed Vice Chair of the Board of Directors of ATCO in November 2016 and of Canadian Utilities and CU Inc. on March 1, 2017.
